Common questions
Straight answers about Client Cleared and AML for Irish professional practices.
AMLR and who it is for
What is AMLR 2027?
The EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation. It becomes directly enforceable across all 27 member states on 10 July 2027. Client Cleared is built for it. Read our guide to what Irish practices must do.
Who is Client Cleared for?
Irish professional practices with AML duties: accountancy practices, solicitors, notaries, life insurers and life insurance brokers.
Your clients
How does onboarding work, step by step?
- Invite. Your client gets a secure, time-limited link by email. No login needed.
- ID check. Identity and address checked in the browser, no app to download, or by manual review. Every director checked on their own.
- Information and documents. The AML questions, the people behind the client and the documents, all in one place.
- Engagement letter. A fee estimate, then the letter is generated and sent for signature.
- Sign. The client, or their authorised signatory, signs online.
- Ongoing AML. The client moves straight into monitoring: re-screening, reviews and alerts.
Clients who go quiet are reminded automatically, on a gap you set.
Does my client need to download an app?
No. Identity and address are checked in the browser.
What ID can my clients use?
A passport, a driving licence or a national ID card.
What if a client can't do the check online?
They can upload a photo of their ID and a selfie instead, and one of your team reviews them. This costs nothing.
Does it handle companies and trusts?
Yes. Individuals, companies, trusts, and other organisations such as partnerships, clubs and co-operatives. Each gets the questions the law asks of it.
Can we do a one-off job without taking someone on as a client?
Yes. Due diligence on a single transaction is its own record, with no engagement letter behind it.
Can we check a name before we meet someone?
Yes. The sanctions search checks a name against the sanctions lists, and every search is logged.
How often are clients reviewed?
Your firm sets a review cycle for each risk level, within what AMLR allows. The review appears when it falls due.
What happens when a sanctions list changes?
Anyone the change could reach is re-checked straight away, whatever their review cycle says.
Can I bring my existing clients across?
Yes. Upload them from a spreadsheet. They are screened on the way in, and each client's gaps against today's rules are tracked until they are fixed.
Price
What does it cost?
From €59 a month. Prices exclude VAT. Your first four months are free if you join before July 2027. See pricing.
How many staff can use it?
As many as you like. Every plan has unlimited onboardings, staff users, screening and ongoing monitoring. Plans differ only on client cap, verification credits and API access.
Do you charge for ID checks that fail?
No. A check that fails or is abandoned does not use a credit.
What happens if we use up our ID checks for the month?
Nothing stops. Extra checks are billed afterwards at your plan's rate per check.
How long is the contract?
There is no fixed term. Either side can end the agreement on 30 days' written notice.
Data and security
Where is our data kept?
Hosted in the EU, with sensitive data and every document encrypted at rest.
What happens to our data if we leave?
We make a copy of your firm's data available within 30 days, then delete it from our systems, apart from anything the law requires us to keep.
Working with your firm
Will my clients see your name?
No. Every client-facing step carries your firm's name and logo.
Does it work with Xero?
Yes. Xero contacts queue for onboarding on every plan.
Can it connect to our practice software or CRM?
Yes, on Growth and Scale. Growth reads clients and onboardings and downloads documents. Scale can do everything, including starting onboardings and adding clients. See features.
